Music fans are calling for a statue of George Michael to be erected outside his Highgate home.
The Change.org petition, addressed directly to Prime Minister Theresa May, is nearing its target of 5,000 signatures after just four weeks.

5. Amy Winehouse in Camden
Troubled musical sensation Amy Winehouse was immortalised in the heart of her Camden hometown in 2014. You’ll find her statue Stables Market.
4. Malcolm McLaren in Highgate
Infamous Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren kept the punk attitude alive even in death. His headstone, in Highgate Cemetery, features a morbid “death mask” and an epitaph that gives two fingers to the graveyard status quo.
3. John Lennon in Camden Market
Hidden away behind a creeping shrub in the middle of Camden Market is this blue plaque to the late, great Beatles frontman. Often eschewed for its better known counterpart outside John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s old home in Marylebone, it’s a curious sight amongst the fast food stalls and endless incense-and-jewellery shops here. John Lennon lived here during a stint of recording at the legendary Abby Road studios in the 1960s.
2. Spike Milligan in Finchley
Seek out this original memorial to the hugely influential British comedian Spike Milligan for a good laugh. Situated in his old hometown of Finchley, you may even catch a live celebrity or two… Regular visitors include Milligan’s old friend, Monty Python’s long-time animator and film director Terry Gilliam. “It should have a little mechanism in it that you sit down and it farts,” Gilliam joked.

This bizarre memorial to THAT moment can be found hanging out the window above The Premises Studios in Hackney. Artist Maria von Köhler received death threats from angry fans after unveiling the piece in 2011, but it still stands proudly. Kind of…
