The journey towards our final story started with a pitching session where we discussed our ideas for our stories. Our story of the day was following a small independent book shop in Wood Green who had achieved worldwide fame after jumping in on a Twitter feud between Harry Potter author J.K Rowling and former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan.
First call of the day was to the local coffee shop where we could get caffeinated. In the cafe we calculated our angle to the story and made our first phone calls of the day. Here is where we learnt that the book shop itself had seen huge sales spikes since the Twitter feud started.
So my partner for the day Ryan, and I got to planning our story. Which involved serious note taking of what we needed to film – in which order and work on our shooting script. This is where we started making notes on any various Harry Potter puns we could find. You gotta keep the story fun!
We got to the bookshop around 2pm which is where took our first shots of the day. After a lovely interview with shop owner Simon Key who told us about how his business had been struggling for a long time and it was the actions of the internet that saved them. Turn’s out that Harry Potter had Siriusly helped their commerce. Afterwards we headed into another cafe for the obligatory tea time, where we wrote together the script for the piece to camera.
And after some final shots of the day and the piece to camera – it was time for us to apparate to feed our owls.
