Log in is a student on the MA Television/Broadcast Journalism course at City St George's, University of London, Northampton Square, London EC1V 0HB.

For our students, creating content for television and radio news programmes is an assessed part of their master’s degree (modules JOM322 Final Project and JOM272 Newsdays and Studio Production). Filming or recording from a public highway is an essential part of this process. It is also identified as a ‘Key Technical Skill’ by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council - the professional standards body that accredits the course.

As student journalists the purchase of a student NUJ press card can be costly. Therefore, we would ask that in lieu of this you accept this letter, along with their student ID, as proof that they are on legitimate business whilst filming/recording on a public highway.

We have made the students aware of their responsibilities and their rights as set out in the College of Policing guidance and the Met Police advice:
