The Mossy Well pub in Muswell Hill Broadway has been awarded a platinum star rating – the highest award possible – for its “exceptional” toilets.

The pub was recently inspected by representatives from the Loo of the Year awards 2016, which aim to highlight and improve toilet standards across the UK.

Genevieve Gardiner, manager of the Wetherspoons pub said: “I am delighted with the award.”

“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”

Inspectors visit hundreds of toilets at sites across the UK, unannounced, in order to judge them. All toilets are graded from bronze to gold and toilets deemed unacceptable are not graded at all.

The platinum rating is only awarded in exceptional circumstances based on criteria including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

The managing director of Loo of the Year Awards 2016, Mike Bone, said: “The toilets at Mossy Well have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pub richly deserves its platinum award”
