Popular short-term apartment rental website Airbnb is to block London hosts from renting their flat for more than 90 days, without official consent.
The restriction, which will come in effect in Spring 2017 will bring the travel website into line with UK law.
Currently, landlords in London are banned from letting out their homes on short term lets for more than 90 days without planning permission.
The proposal is also a move to address concerns that short-term lets on platforms like Airbnb are fueling London’s housing crisis
Tom Copley, Labour’s housing spokesman on the London assembly, called the move a ‘huge step in the right direction’.
