It has been announced that hundreds of thousands of commuters can expect disruption for most of August due to major works at the UK’s busiest station, Waterloo.
Between August the 5th and 28th, “significantly” fewer trains will run on the South West Trains network.
This is due to an £800 million upgrade, where platforms will be extended to provide 30% more space for passengers during the busiest times of the day.
Becky Lumlock, of Network Rail, explained how the organization is currently in the midst of the largest upgrade at Waterloo for decades, which forms part of Network Rail’s national Railway Upgrade Plan.
She described the works as “big changes for passengers” during the month of August, and said: “This is why we’re asking passengers to check how they will be affected now so that they can plan ahead, either by planning to travel at different times of day or working from home on some days during the works.”
