The Office for National Statistics have announced that the amount of adults who smoke in the UK dropped by 3% from 2010 to 2015.

The decrease in smoking correlates with a national rise in vaping, which sees smokers swap traditional cigarettes for a handheld electronic device that vaporizes a flavoured liquid.

The liquid in the e-cigarette usually contains nicotine, which helps to reduce cravings for people trying to quit smoking.

The owner of an Islington vaping shop said that he has seen more and more people use vaping to successfully quite smoking – and that his business “has of course benefited from this.”

Government policy will continue to crack down on the percentage of adults addicted to smoking, with the banning of tobacco branding already rolled out earlier this year.
