London Beer Week returns to the capital this week until 19 March. The annual festival celebrates ales, lagers, and ciders with events held throughout all of London.
The seven day festival hosts a dedicated beer village, events, and brewery and tap room tours each year.
This year’s beer village, The Beer Edit, will take place at the Oval Space in East London beginning Thursday 16 March.
Some have criticised the event for promoting unhealthy drinking habits in the city, according to the Camden Alcohol Service.
Islington has the highest rate of alcohol abuse in London with 800 people per 100,000 committed to hospital each year.
TheCamden Alcohol Service has worked with the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust to encourage safer drinking practices.
“With Islington’s problem of alcohol abuse, there should be great care taken with the promotion of events such as London Beer Week,” the Camden Alcohol Service said. “Drinking in moderation is our main advice.”
