The Central and Piccadilly lines are the worst for pickpocketing and thefts, new figures released today have shown.
Statistics revealed today by the Metropolitan Police also showed that the number of thefts on the Tube have risen by more than a third in the past two years.
The lines that saw the most reported thefts were the Central and Piccadilly, accounting for about 17% of offences.
In the last 12 months, passengers have suffered more than 5,000 offences.
Saturday is the most common day for pickpocketers while thieves are most likely to operate between 18:00 and 19:00.
Figures obtained by insurer Policy Expert, showed that the Night Tube is the safest time to avoid thieves.
Only 435 cases of theft occurred between midnight and 05:00.
The least targeted lines by thieves were the Circle and Metropolitan lines, with 67 and 205 cases were reported respectively.
The figures also show the worst months in 2017 for pickpocketing were March and December.
Passengers aged between 25 and 34 were the most targeted, while women were almost 1.5 times more likely to be victims than men.
