Historic Royal Palaces will host a light show at the Tower of London following the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Dominique Driver, a Senior Interpretation Manager for Historic Royal Palaces, told City News they have been planning a light show for a number of years.
Visuals of historic portraits and detailed footage of the Crown Jewels will illuminate the iconic buildings of the Tower of London.
The light show will be set to an evolving soundscape composed by David Harper that samples centuries of historic music.
Crown and Coronation will project portraits of historic monarchs, rare architectural illustrations of the Tower of London, and images from historic and modern-day coronations.
According to Historic Royal Palaces, the light show will offer visitors a “totally new way” to experience the Tower after-hours.
This stunning visual spectacle will invite visitors into the Treasury to see the Crown Jewels up-close and without the crowds.
Dominique Driver said that the charity wanted to celebrate the ancient ceremony and Coronation Regalia in a visual way.
This will be the first time Historic Royal Palaces have hosted a light show inside the Tower of London.
Crown and Coronation will begin this month at the Tower of London before touring the UK in 2024 and 2025.
Historic Royal Palaces hope to bring the splendour of the coronation ceremony to those who might not be able to visit London. They are offering the public a chance to celebrate a historic moment in British history.
