Two warrants were executed in Newcastle early Thursday morning at addresses associated with alkaline attack suspect Abdul Ezedi; however, no arrests were made.
A close friend of the victim of the serious attack in Clapham said that the mother “only wanted a safe home for her girls”.
On the 31st of January, the 31 year old victim had a corrosive substance throw over her, leaving her with “very serious injuries”. Police say the woman is in a “serious but stable” condition in hospital, and remains under sedation. The attacker also injured her two young daughters, aged 3 and 8.
The victim’s friend has said that “her children are her life. She is generous to a fault and a wonderful cook and host. All she has ever wanted is a safe home for her and her beautiful, kind little girls.”
She also thanked members of the public who intervened in the immediate aftermath of the attack:
“We cannot put into words how grateful we are to the heroic neighbours of Lessar Avenue. They risked their own lives to save them and we can only imagine how distressing the attack was for them too. They are angels in our eyes.”
Police have named the suspect as Abdul Ezedi, who they believe was in a relationship with the victim that had since broken down. Mr Ezedi is still on the run.
The suspect is believed to have suffered a serious facial injury during the incident. Met Commander, Jon Savell, has made a direct appeal to the suspect, “Ezedi – hand yourself into police, not only so we can speak to you, but so you can get the urgent medical treatment you obviously need.”
Anyone with information should call the police’s dedicated hotline on 020 7175 2784, or for an immediate sighting dial 999. The police are offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to Mr Ezedi’s arrest.
