Haringey residents say Snug Art Cafe is a 'home away from home'.

Haringey residents have expressed their disappointment after their local café announced its closure.
Snug Art Café opened in 2014 in Green Lanes. After ten years of business, the café has been forced to shut due to an increase in rent prices.
This has caused large upset amongst residents who say they found the business to be a hub for the community. The café was well-known in north London for its kids play area which attracted parents and families.
“I did not expect that kind of response from the community.”
The owner, Anna Chojnacka, told City News about her reaction to the closure: “I wanted Snug to continue trading for the community as I felt it meant a lot to everyone. It has been an amazing journey for me, full of incredible memories. Challenging at times, but as I loved Snug and our customers so much, I always fought and managed to survive.”
“Centre of our world”
The loss of the independent café has been felt by the residents of Haringey. Mother of two, Hannah, said the café was a “home away from home.”
She adds: “We’re going to really miss it as there isn’t anything quite like it around here.”
Local resident, Pascale, spoke of how Snug was an “asset to the community” and “a life raft to those with babies and young children.”
Despite this, café owner Anna expressed her understanding of the rent increase from her landlord saying: “I do appreciate him a lot as, during my stay here, he has not increased my rent at all. But after 10 years I do understand that his costs have gone up too.”
City News reached out to the landlord for comment, but he has yet to respond.
