A serial rapist who abused two teenage girls in separate attacks has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, and a further three years on licence.
David Berbers, 21, from Byatt Walk, Richmond-upon-Thames has been jailed after a joint investigation between the Metropolitan and Sussex police forces.
A teenage girl contacted the Met in 2019 to report that Berbers had raped her several times when she was 15. The attacks occurred between December 2017 and March 2018.
Detectives investigating the case later found that Berbers was also suspected of raping a 15-year-old girl in Hove. He was later tried and found guilty for three counts of rape relating to two girls.
The investigation was led by Detective Constable Hannah Saunders of Public Protection Unit.
She said, “These young women have both been through a terrible ordeal. I would like to commend them for their courage and resilience.”
Detective Constable Saunders added there may be more victims and the police encourage anyone with further information to come forward.
He said, “We take all allegations of this nature very seriously and you will be listened to and supported.”
