Labour Leader Sir Kier Starmer has announced six first steps for government at a major campaign event.
Sir Kier Starmer claims that Labour’s six pledges taken together should start a conversation on the doorsteps of the country.
The six steps are:
Deliver economic stability
Cut NHS waiting times
Launching a new border security command
Establishing ‘Great British Energy’, a clean power company that would be publicly owned
Increasing neighbourhood policing
Recruiting 6,500 new teachers
Sir Keir says that the six pledges will materialise within two terms of the Labour government.
In response to the pledges, Conservative Party chairman Richard Holden says that “Sir Keir Starmer is a serial promise-breaker who doesn’t have the courage or conviction to stick to a single pledge he has ever made,” while referencing to Sir Keir’s last pledge card.
The SNP criticised Sir Keir as Scotland was not included in any of the six steps. The Deputy Leader of SNP, Mhairi Black claims that the Labour party leader “has U-turned on nearly every policy he has ever promised – so it’s little wonder the public don’t trust a single promise he now makes.”
Mhairi Black also says that “Sir Keir Starmer intends to be prime minister for England only.”
