Former Chemsex user Ignacio Labayen de Inza founded his charity in 2020 after realising the practice had a heavy presence on hookup apps, especially since Covid.
Volunteers from Supporting Chemsex have a presence on sex apps such as Grindr and Scruff and are available for people to contact them.
Born in Spain, Ignacio himself has been supporting men who are engaged in Chemsex since 2008, but between 2012-2015 was himself involved. He gave City News permission to use his name and experience.
“I lost everything in Spain and thought everyday I wouldn’t be alive. I was meeting sexy guys and I felt free to try new things” and told us that he thought he was going to die or “crazy in a mental institution”.
Ignacio explained the risks of getting high and overdosing, in a video he made with JOE:
‘I am going to leave now, this is insane. Thank you for your help, you are right’
On one occasion, the charity helped an individual on Grindr who became contacted them whilst at a Chemsex party.

Supporting Chemsex (SC): What makes u say that u should go?

User: I think it’s that I don’t want to think. I don’t want too face the disappointment. I hooked with someone last night, I was horny, he had chems and I could not say no. I am a stupid bitch, now here I am again after these months, because I get horny I can’t control myself.
SC: It’s amazing u stayed all those months from chems, don’t forget that. Maybe u are there now, but I’m sure you have learned a lot these past months. May I ask u something?

Ignacio told City News that 60% of people who Supporting Chemsex support are based in London.
