Reacting to the sentence, Kacem’s family said, “There are no words to express the unimaginable grief that we have suffered. The manner in which Kacem was murdered, has had a life changing impact on our family.”

They described Christopher Wilson as a “dangerous individual who should be taken off the streets for as long as legally possible.”

Wilson had plead not guilty to the charges, which lead the family to say “his lack of remorse and the cowardice he has shown do not deserve our forgiveness.”

Fifth conviction for Kacem’s murder

Wilson is the fifth person to be convicted of Kacem’s murder, after four others were found guilty in June 2023

It was part of an ongoing feud between two rival east London gangs. Kacem was taken to Royal London Hospital following the incident, and later died there on 20th November 2017.

‘Kacem’s family have waited seven-and-a-half years for this’

Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway from the Metropolitan Police described the investigation as “complex”, and said that “Kacem’s family have waited seven-and-a-half years for this moment.”

He added “Wilson’s conviction and sentencing should act as stark reminder to anyone who is involved in this level of violence that we will continue to search for you in order that you can be put before the courts.”
