Protestors pour paint over Tesla robot.

Two Just Stop Oil protesters have been charged with criminal damage for pouring orange paint over a robot at a Tesla store in west London.

Nigel Fleming, 63, and Catherine Nash, 74, have both been charged for the incident which took place at the Westfield Tesla store in Shepherd’s Bush on Wednesday morning.

A video posted on X by Just Stop Oil shows Fleming and Nash climbing onto a podium on which was displayed an Optimus robot before pouring orange paint over it.

The campaign group said this was a protest against Tesla owner Elon Musk and billionaires threatening democracy and “jeopardising climate science”.

Fleming, a retired tax adviser from London, and Nash, retired teacher from Cumbria, stood by the robot and waved a Just Stop Oil banner.

Nash, of Castle Green Close, Westmorland and Furness, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Fleming, of Worcester Crescent, Barnet, has been released on conditional bail, and is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 8.

Just Stop Oil said the action follows President Donald Trump’s purchase of a new Tesla, which the President announced on the White House drive on Tuesday.

Just Stop Oil has said they have more actions planned in April, demanding an end to the extraction and use of fossil fuels by 2030.
