The London mayoral elections will be taking place in May 2024, at the same time as London Assembly and local elections.

Voting will be taking place under the first-past-the-post system for the first time.

As candidates begin kicking off their campaigns in full – City News has compiled all the candidates in the race.

Labour Party

Sadiq Khan is staying in for the election as Labour’s candidate.

It’s unclear if his backing of ULEZ could impact his election chances.

He’s been mayor since 2016, taking over from Boris Johnson.

Conservative Party

London Assembly member Susan Hall is in the running for Mayor.

Hall won 57% of the vote against fellow conservative nominee Mozammel Hossain.

The allegedly preferred conservative candidate, Daniel Korski, withdrew his candidacy following an allegation of sexual assault.

Liberal Democrats

Rob Blackie is the Lib Dem candidate.

He’s running on a platform of reforming the metropolitan police.

He claims that a focus on minor drug offences has distracted from sexual offences and other serious crime.

Green Party

Having stood in 2021, Hackney councillor Zoe Garbett is again standing as the Green Party candidate.

Garbett was a nominee for mayor of Hackney in 2022 and 2023.

Reform UK

The party nominated Howard Cox, who founded the Fair Fuel Campaign and is running with a pledge to scrap ULEZ.

Social Democratic Party

Nurse Amy Gallagher is running for mayor as the SDP candidate. In 2022, she sued an NHS Trust alleging discrimination, which brought her into the public eye.
