Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger stressed that Hector Bellerin’s future is at the Emirates, amid speculation about a possible transfer for the 21 year-old defender.
Manchester City and Bellerin’s home club Barcelona are both reportedly interested in the Spanish international, who is continuing to perform well after an impressive run of form last season.
But Wenger, speaking to the press ahead of Saturday’s Premier League Clash against Swansea, said that Bellerin was a ‘real Arsenal player’ and that his long-term future was at the club.
He confirmed that Arsenal would seek to extend Bellerin’s contract, which currently expires in 2019.
There was mixed news for Arsenal fans on the injury front.
Wenger confirmed that Mesut Ozil is match-fit, after fears that he had picked up an injury playing for Germany on Tuesday. Francis Coquelin is also available.
But Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey’s injury woes continue. Although they have both returned to training after respective toe and hamstring problems, they will not be ready to play by Saturday.
