Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke at a press conference this morning ahead of their match against West Brom.
Spurs have started the season well and find themselves second in the table one point behind Manchester City.
Spurs fans will be eagerly waiting for news on Harry Kane, who damaged his ankle ligaments before the international break as well as midfield rock Mousa Dembele, who has been out since mid-September.
Pochettino offered a little insight in his press conference this morning, stating: “Harry Kane is still out, he’s doing very well but he’s not ready yet. We don’t know yet when he will play again. All we can say that he is doing well and we hope that next week he can start training on the grass…we’re happy with the way he’s recovering.”
The Argentinian manager also commented on Dembele, who was expected to recover quickly, but has had a number of setbacks during injury. Pochettino said: “We have another day tomorrow to see if he can be available. I cannot say the chances, it only depends how he feels tomorrow. He got a minor problem in his hamstring against Sunderland. Then he was good but he got a knock in his foot in training, and that’s an old problem. It’s minor but it’s painful for him, and when he touches the ball it’s painful for him.”
Tottenham will hope to push on this year after finishing third in the Premier League last season, but looked like the only competitor to eventual winners Leicester for most of the season. Fresh from their 2-0 win over Manchester City, the North London club will hope to keep the pressure on Guardiola’s men over the weekend.
