Runners across Hackney are dismayed with the news that the Run Hackney Half marathon will increase in price from £39 to £58.
Virgin Sport took over the marathon last year and have said the price will now include a Yoga class after the race
The race was originally set up as part of the London 2012 Olympic games legacy but after the Virgin hiked the prices up many Hackney residents are choosing to boycott the race.
Kari a local resident from Hackney has said that she will not take part because it was simply “too expensive”
The London marathon which costs runners £35.00 to participate is much cheaper than Hackney’s annual half marathon and many Hackney resents cannot understand why there has been such an increase in price.
