The player scored a remarkable scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.

The shot was a flicked volley with his left foot that flew in off the crossbar.

Giroud was announced as the winner at a ceremony held at the London Palladium on Monday.

His strike outpaced competition from Venezuela Under-17 women’s striker Deyna Castellanos and South African goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke.

Giroud described the win as ‘an honour’ and thanked his team and his family.
