The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee is investigating whether the classification system is being abused in British Paralympics.

This comes after a BBC investigation claimed some British athletes were cheating the system by having surgery to gain access to a more favourable class.

The athletes names have not been released as the allegations are yet to be proven. These accusations target athletes in various disciplines.

Sparrows disabled Basketball team’s player Amir Laksari told City News ‘sportsman faking or exaggerating disability is a major issue and could mean that many talented sportsman will miss out on competing’.

A revision of the Para-Athletics classification system will take effect on the 1st of January.

These changes will affect British Paralympic champions such as Jonnie Peacock and Kadeena Cox.
