Arsene Wenger’s comments come following Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli’s booking for diving at the weekend.

The Arsenal boss has been an outspoken critic of simulation in the Premier League, previously saying that Raheem Sterling ‘dives well’ following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in November.

Wenger was replying to comments made about Alli’s dive by Tottenham manager Maurico Pochettino.

Pochettino said on Tuesday that ‘tricking’ an opponent is now part of the game.

Arsene Wenger said: “How far was it an apology for diving? I’m not sure at all. I don’t think he would. In my personal case? No. We have to get the diving out of the game.”

“I remember there were tremendous cases here when foreign players did it but I must say the English players have learned very quickly and they might even be the masters now.”

Arsenal beat Tottenham at the Emirates earlier in the season, but now sit four points behind their London rivals who are fourth in the league.

Arsene Wenger also admitted that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is the best striker in Europe.

Kane scored his 100th Premier League goal at the weekend and spoke of how being released from the Arsenal academy as an eight year old left him with a ‘chip on his shoulder’.

Harry Kane has an excellent record against the Gunners, having scored six goals in his last seven appearances against them.

Arsene Wenger faces a further headache in defence, as he will be without his first choice goalkeeper.

Wenger says he’ll make a late call on Petr Cech, who suffered a calf injury in Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Everton at the weekend.

But the Arsenal boss is very happy with his back up, David Ospina.

Wenger said: “We had some problems with Petr Cech and we are not sure – he hasn’t practised.

“I will not take any risk if he is not 100 per cent because I have full confidence in David Ospina.

“David Ospina or Petr Cech, I will make that decision tomorrow.”
