The junior Gunners will face the young Seasiders in this first clash of the last four for the youth FA cup.

Emile Smith Rowe is a rising star in the team and scored two goals in their quarter final win against Colchester. He was also part of the winning World Cup under 17’s squad last year.

Currently injured it is unclear whether or not he will miss the rest of the season.

City News reporter Justine Chalabi spoke with Mr Rowe earlier this week.

JC: How confident do you think the team is about this FA youth cup semi finale against Blackpool?

ESR: It’s a great achievement to get this far in the competition and we know we’re a good team capable of scoring goals against anybody. However we also acknowledge that Blackpool have beaten some very good teams to reach the semi’s as well so we’ll be taking nothing for granted.

JC: Unfortunately you are injured at the moment but do you know at this stage if you are going to miss the rest of the season with Arsenal?

ESR: It’s too early to tell. All I can say is that I’m totally focussed on getting fit and if that means I’ll be back before the end of the season then great because I’d like to continue to play my part for the team. Equally, if I don’t, then I’ll quickly switch my attention to coming back stronger in pre season and hopefully featuring with the firs team.
