All 20 Premier League clubs have agreed in principal for Video Assistant Referees (VAR) to be used in the 19/20 Premier League season.
The news came after a shareholder’s meeting, in which clubs were updated on the trials occurring this season.
VAR has continued trials for the past two seasons in Germany and Italy’s top leagues as well as in certain cup fixtures in England, however only at Premier League grounds.
VAR was most notably used at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
In order for VAR to now be used next season, the Premier League will now send formal request to the International Football Association Board and FIFA.
