Under a £9bn redevelopment plan for Battersea Power Station, a temporary exhibition space and courts for the racquet sport padel could open.
Temporary padel facilities would be phase six of an eight part redevelopment. They would be in place for five years while permanent plans for an indoor sports facility are brought forward.
Operated by Rocket Padel, the permanent facility would include four padel courts, a lounge space, warm-up area, showers and changing facilities.
The first phase of the power station redevelopment was completed in 2017. The Circus West Village included hundreds of new homes, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities.
Padel, a hybrid sport between tennis and squash, is set for UK boom says talksport. Loved by Beckham and Ronaldo, the sport has 300 courts in the UK, including a new padel club in the heart of Canary Wharf.
The council will make a decision on the temporary facilities for the growing sport in Battersea in due course.
