Arsenal dominate RC Lens to win 6-0 in convincing fashion and top their UEFA champions league group.

Arsenal came into the game knowing that a win would seal their spot at the top of the group heading into the knockout stages of the competition.

Kai Havertz scores again

Despite losing to RC Lens in the reverse fixture, Arsenal started quickly with a few chances in the first ten minutes falling to both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

It was Havertz that broke the deadlock in just the thirteenth minute when Jesus headed the ball across the box for him to slot in.

Havertz followed up his Premier League goal on Saturday with a Champions League goal that Arsenal fans hope will give the German a bit of momentum following disappointing performances for the north London side.

After the first goal there was no stopping the gunners

Havertz’ goal was a sign of things to come as four more goals followed in the first half from all of Arsenal’s attacking players.

Gabriel Jesus sat RC Lens defender down before placing the ball past keeper Brice Samba for the second goal.

Saka got lucky with a deflected goal coming from a Martinelli shot that was scuffled into the path of the English forward for him to bundle in for the gunners’ third.

A Martinelli curler followed that up just four minutes later as a long ball from Tomiyasu was finished by the young Brazilian to put the gunners up 4-0 in the first half an hour.

While Arsenal dominated the half, RC Lens did have a few chances, most notably when a Facundo Medina strike from 25 yards rattled Raya’s post and rebounded to an offside Elye Wahi.

Arsenal Captain Martin Ødegaard finished off a lightning fast counter attack on the stroke of halftime with a sublime volley to take the Gunners into half time with a champions league halftime score line of 5-0.

Gunners calmly seal victory in second half

The second half was less eventful than the first as Arsenal settled their energy to dominate possession and limit RC Lens’ chances.

An unexpected handball from RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov in the away team’s box gave Jorginho an 86th-minute penalty which he calmly nestled in the bottom right corner.

This win places Arsenal top of their UEFA champions league group, They are guaranteed to face a second-place team in a corresponding group in the knockout rounds starting in February.
