Arsenal are arranging to open contract negotiations with midfielder Jorginho, after a range of standout performances.
Part of Italy’s winning Euros 2020 team, the defensive midfielder transferred to Arsenal last January from rival team Chelsea. He has since made 41 appearances at competitions and has scored once.
The former Napoli player impressed Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, with his professional approach and he believes that Jorginho provides some added experience to a relatively young Arsenal squad.
Jorginho also displayed his skill recently, giving a man-of-the-match worthy performance in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Newcastle last Saturday, as well as the recent 3-1 victory against Liverpool.
A one year contract with the possibility of an additional year is planned as an opening point for negotiations with Jorginho.
