Sunny Singh Gill is going to become the first British South Asian referee to lead a game in the Premier League.
The 39-year-old will make history refereeing Crystal Palace at home as they go against Luton Town.
He is not the only person in his family to make history. His father, Jarnail Singh was the first and only league football referee to officiate whilst wearing a turban.
Reflecting on his journey, Sunny told the English Football League (EFL) that “football has always run in the family” and that he has spent “a lot of hard work training” for this moment.
