It has been an embarrassing week for Royal Mail in Archway where post boxes have been out of action.
Many of them were sealed after the master key was lost by a “clumsy” postman.
Postboxes were sealed with black tape all week. The problem has now been fixed but residents have continued to vent their anger. One said there had been “no explanation at all” and another expressed surprise that keys were still used in this electronic age.
It is not the first time a postman misplaces his keys. In 2013, about a dozen postboxes were sealed in Kensington prompting calls for Royal Mail to update its system.
Royal Mail has not commented.
