Art on the Underground in collaboration with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has commissioned five artists to create and distribute limited edition artwork on the tube. Sol Calero, Alexandre da Cunha, Jeremy Deller, David Shrigley and Mark Titchner have created posters that will be handed out for free to Tube passengers at Tottenham Court Road, Vauxhall, King’s Cross St Pancras, Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford stations today, Tuesday 22 November from 7.30am.

Each location will have its own exclusive artwork, based on the themes of openness and diversity. Championed by the London is Open campaign, 5,000 limited edition prints will be available to commuters. The artworks hope to spread a message of internationalism, diversity and commonality across London.

Alongside the prints, badges and limited edition postcard sets will be distributed. The postcards encourage the public to write to friends and spread the message that London is open to all.

So if you’re a fan of David Shrigley head to Shepherd’s Bush or seek out works by Jeremy Deller at Tottenham Court Road. Just remember time is ticking and supplies are limited!
