The Alma pub in islington has won the Time Out award for ‘most loved pub’ for 2016. It also won the award last year.
When asked what his secret was, general manager Wesley Deaton said “It’s all about the atmosphere. We like to have a chat with our punters and it’s a cosy place to be with good food and a great selection of drinks”.
The pub also has a quirky theme; movies. From Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe posters to a model storm trooper and a very realistic Jaws shark, there’s a conversation starter for everyone.
According to Mr Deaton Islington is a great area for pubs, as well as restaurants and cafes. It is becoming a more affluent area by the day. Many pub owners are pleased with the freeze on beer duty that was announced by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip Hammond, in the Autumn Statement.
With Christmas fast approaching, this destination pub has proven it’s the place to be.
