Stokey Bears, a burger shop in Hackney, has come under fire for publicising unlicensed tattooing within its facilities.
The burger shop, which has a zero rating for food hygiene, has been denying the claims made by members of the public and picked up by the Hackney Citizen.
The owners of the Stokey Bears have spoken out against the Hackney Citizen saying their reporting has been false and misguided.
Owner Tom Reaney told City News, “Obviously we aren’t tattooing people in a restaurant. That would be silly.”
Criticism followed several tweets by the restaurant in which they publicised the tattooing event. The original tweets have since been deleted from the Stokey Bears twitter page.
Following the claims, Hackney Council issued a statement warning the restaurant. If the council were to substantiate these claims, Stokey Bears could face prosecution and a fine of up to £2500.
