The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, has opened the new development at the Charterhouse today.
Originally constructed in 1371 on the site of a Black Death burial ground, the site’s rich heritage is now being opened up to the public for the first time, through a £4m redevelopment project titled “Revealing the Charterhouse”.
This morning, the Queen visited the newly created Learning Centre and museum facilities. The Queen and Duke will also take part in a short ceremony and plaque unveiling in the Chapel.
The redevelopment project has received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a number of other foundations.
