A memorial gig for Louise Cattell is happening tonight on Holloway Road.

Louise died six years ago at the age of 21 from misusing the party drug Ketamine. The club hosting the event, Numbucca, is putting on an array of live performances to honour Louise’s love of music, and to raise money and awareness for the drug prevention charity, Mentor UK.

City News spoke to mother of Louise, Vicky Unwin, about the importance of knowing the dangerous consequences of party drugs. Since Louise’s death, Ketamine has been re-classified from a Class C to a Class B drug. But she still believes more needs to be done in terms of educating young people today, as ‘it’s often the case that the less you know about a drug, the more dangerous it is for you to consume’.
