Old Spitalfields Market
Young people set up shop in Old Spitalfields Market on Tuesday.

As part of the Young Enterprise Charity, young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to showcase their own business ideas and products to a selection of judges and the public.

Expert judges will assess their ideas and choose who is the best in the business.

Students have been running their own businesses in small groups as part of Young Enterprise’s Company Programme since last Autumn, deciding on a board of directors before coming up with a product or service to devise, market and sell to the public.

According to UCAS, London has had the highest university application rate in each year from 2006 to 2018.

But with more young people attending university, students now need an extensive CV to prove themselves to future employers.

95% of Young Enterprise Company alumni are in education, employment or training compared to the national average of 88%.

Although costing £31 to take part, students seem keen to think about their future.

One student said, ‘ Young Enterprise would give the opportunity to go out into the real world.’

The Young Enterprise Charity hopes that initiatives like this will help bolster CVs and encourage students to think about their future.
